Taekwondo Passion 16.12.15

Hello again,

A Christmas blog! But first I must start by congratulating our GB athletes who qualified for the Rio Olympics next year. Jade, Bianca and Lutalo all secured their places during the Mexico Grand Prix finals. Well done to them and the whole GBR team in Mexico.

I had the pleasure of being in Mexico to watch the event, I met WTF President Cheou, attended the WTF Council Dinner, met the Kukkiwon Vice President, attended the WTF Gala Awards (nice kick Arron) and Dinner, meeting some great Taekwondo people from around the globe. Thanks to Mike McKenzie and to Usman Dildar for their support during my trip.

I’ve had a very busy end to the year, complete with a Sport England progress meeting, 3 Board meetings for TOL, GB Taekwondo and British Taekwondo and an audit review from Sport England. These events allow us to build new and develop existing relationships with some great people, which will all no doubt help us to grow and flourish in 2016.

A quick thanks to Kambiz Ali, the Mayor of Harrogate and his good lady wife. I had the pleasure to attend a presentation, meeting and dinner to discuss Harrogate hosting British Taekwondo’s first ever British National Hamnadang Championships in 2016. Exciting times … keep watching.

A busy end to the year in the office as well with Clare, Debbie and Beth all working hard to get right on top of the memberships. I think I can say mission accomplished team – very well done and thank you!

Theresa Johnson will be joining the membership team next year, which will also help us improve our efficiency regarding invoice and expense processing. Thanks also to Nariah who has joined us to help process some 650 GAL and GOL licences over December and early 2016. Thanks to Paul Timms for dealing with this issue over the past few months Рgreat job Paul Рreally appreciated.

I leave this year with some important meetings I want to plan for early next year such as BSTF, Tigers, UKTDC, TTA, GM Pan and many others. A busy year ahead which I’m looking forward to – but first – time to polish up my CV!

Finally, Thanks to all the British Taekwondo team for this year, thanks for your loyalty, your support, your hard work and your passion for Taekwondo. To all our members, clubs and coaches I wish you all a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year. We are all one British Taekwondo Family but now it’s time for our own families first.

Enjoy and thanks again.
