GB Taekwondo are pleased to announce details of this year’s 2013 British Taekwondo National Championships.

The 2013 Championships will be staged on the weekend of 7-8 September at the National Cycling Centre and is open to British Taekwondo members of all ages.

Last year’s event was the most successful in the event’s history and with the increased participation following the Olympics we hope, once again, that this will be a record breaking year.

Three members of the forthcoming World Championships team took gold in Manchester last September.

Asia Bailey took gold in September’s competition and followed it up with consecutive medals in the Croatian, French, Sweden, German and Dutch Opens whilst Amin Badr and Caroline Fisher, both European bronze medallists, won the -59 junior and -53 senior division respectively.

Performances at the Nationals also contributed to the selection of five members of the U21 Championships team who will compete in Moldova this month.

Gary Hall, Performance Director, acknowledged the importance of the National Championships:

“The National Championships is the first step on the pathway to success for all athletes. Jade Jones won the National title in 2010 and was Olympic champion two years later.

“We’re now at the start of the Rio cycle, and this year’s Championships is the opportunity for any aspiring Olympian to show that they could be on that podium in three years time.”

Entries for the National Championships will be processed online and full information can be found by clicking here.
