London 2012 Olympics Legacy Equipment winner- Competition H- Best work done to benefit local community or charity Master Dan Thomas’s club, Unite Taekwondo, was nominated by Julie Kippax, who went on to explain the excellent charitable work that Master Thomas does with the club, including raising funds for the local hospice, local animal sanctuary, as well as raising awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, which is an incurable neurological condition. The Council felt that this was a very worthy winner, to a club who has used its own growth to reach out to their local community as well as having the ambition to do excellent work in Africa to underprivileged children.
Dan commented “I am quite overwhelmed by winning this competition, it’s very humbling to be recognised for the work we do locally and for our ambition to help children in Africa through Taekwondo. The equipment is gratefully received, the club will definitely benefit through it. The signed head guards will take pride of place in our gym, I think they will be a real inspiration to our club”.
