
2008 Beijing Olympic Games
The 2008 Summer Olympic Games will be going to Beijing this year in what promises to be a spectacular event in terms of the Organisation as well as the sporting competition.
Sport Taekwondo UK qualified three out of a maximum of four available spaces at the games over the past 11 months and have submitted a team consisting of both youth and experience.
The opening ceremony takes place on August 8th 2008 (08.08.08) and the taekwondo competition takes place between the 20th – 23rd of August at the Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium.

Sarah Stevenson

Sarah is one of the most exciting members of the Great Britain squad and has an impressive record for someone so young. Stevenson started her career by becoming Junior World Champion in 1998, followed by winning the Senior World Championship three years later in 2001. Sarah also has three European Championship gold medals won in 1999, 2004 and 2005 as well as a silver medal at the World Championships, which took place in Madrid in 2005.

Cook is arguably the most promising youngster in the world and recently won the title of World Junior Champions to add to his bronze in 2005. Cook is also Junior European Champions and won his first senior gold medal at the 2007 Germany Open at the age of sixteen, a hugely impressive achievement for someone so young.

Harvey has also recently made the switch from Junior to Senior but has an impressive record at Junior level which suggests an exciting future for the youngster. Harvey claimed a Junior European Championships bronze medal in 2005 and then took two silver medals in 2006 at the Junior Dutch and US Open’s.
