Sport Taekwondo Selection Points Update
It has been confirmed by the European Taekwondo Union (ETU) and the European A grade event organisers that many of this year’s international tournaments shall use electronic body protector scoring systems (EPB), which may conflict with the favoured Lajusta system proposed for use at the 2009 World Taekwondo Championships (WC).
The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has indicated they may only be able to confirm which EPB system they will use at this year’s WC at the end of February 2009.
In light of this developing situation the British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) through the Sport Taekwondo UK (STUK) panel has decided to amend the 2009 Selection Procedure as follows.
Junior Selection points available:
There will be no change to the current procedure.
Senior Selection points available:
No selection points will be awarded for the previously publicised 2009 Dutch Open, German Open and Belgium Open.
Points are still available for the 2009 British National Championships, 2nd and 3rd May and 2009 British International Open, 29th and 30th August.
Points accumulated to date shall remain.
The 2009 Iran Fajr International Taekwondo Championships, 11th and 12th April will be added to the selection event list and carry the following selection points:
• 3 for Gold medal positions
• 2 for Silver medal positions
• 1 for Bronze medal positions
Any male competitors wishing to attend this event as part of the Great Britain team should contact the Sport Taekwondo UK office on Tel: 0161 220 3845 or email: shelley.stout@btcb-stuk.co.uk for further cost and booking details, no later than Friday 13 February 2009. We will not be able to accommodate any late additions due to visa requirements.
There shall be no points available for females at the above games.
