Sarah Stevenson
DATE OF BIRTH: March 30, 1983
PLACE OF BIRTH: Doncaster
BASED: Manchester
WEIGHT: -67kg
WHEN DID YOU START TAEKWONDO AND WHY:
I was seven and mainly because the sport was already in the family. My elder brother, Simon competed as a junior international ..until he got distracted by girls!
OTHER SPORTS PLAYED: Always taekwondo
HONOURS: 1998 World Juniors gold, 1999 European Juniors gold, 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, fourth place, 2001 World Senior gold, 2002 European silver, 2004 European silver, 2004 Athens Olympic Games, 2005 World Seniors silver, 2005 and 2006 European gold, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games bronze, 2010 European gold, 2011 World Senior gold.
AMBITION: To be happy in life and have no regrets.
ROLE MODEL/FAVOURITE OTHER SPORTSMAN OR WOMAN:
Roger Federer. The 'Fed Express' has stayed at top and always bounces back after defeat.
People always try to write him off but he's just too good. He makes tennis look easy plus he seems to be a respectable and grounded person.
It's been said I do the same in taekwondo.
WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC WATCH TAEKWONDO: When you are younger it teaches you respect. It gives you discipline. There is always lots of action, lot of drama and it never gets boring.
IF SOMEONE GAVE YOU £1 MILLION, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT: I would buy a house for me and my family when I get older. But I would always give to my family because they have done so much to me.
I might also buy my own Sarah Stevenson Inspires Academy to discover loads of little Jades (Jones) and Sarahs.
SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T KNOW SARAH STEVENSON: My Roger Federer hat that I got for Christmas 2009. One of my best presents ever. I am a bit obsessed when it comes to Roger.
