Bianca Walkden is a Taekwondo fighter competing in the heavyweight category. Bianca has lived and trained in Manchester since she was 15 years old where she enjoyed a successful junior career winning a Bronze medal at the European Championships in 2007, swiftly followed by a very impressive Silver at the World Junior Championships and Commonwealth Gold in 2008.

In 2010 Bianca continued her success winning Gold at the European Championships. The next few years were spent battling injury resulting in Bianca missing out on the chance to qualify for the 2012 Olympics and eventually requiring knee surgery.

Bianca had an impressive return to fitness post knee surgery. In 2014 she won Gold at the European Championship as well as medals across a series of opens round the world. In 2015 Bianca had a breakthrough season becoming only the 2nd ever GB athlete to win Gold at the World Championships.

Bianca continued this fantastic success in 2016 with notable victories including the Dutch Open, German Open, World Presidents Cup and the European Championships (Montreux). Bianca’s 2016 concluded with a brilliant Bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Bianca became the first GB athlete to retain a World title when she won gold again at the 2017 World Championships in Muju last June.
